I love your blog! I just discovered it today, but I will be a returning visitor. My husband and I are both atheists who spent about the first 30 years of our life in fundamental Christianity. We now have a one year old daughter who we are trying to raise to be a free thinker. This is very hard to do without a community or support system. Do you have any advice in finding other atheists in my community. I know that as my daughter grows and makes friends I will appriciate some like-minded friends.
Thanks so much!!

Great blog!

I have a soon-to-be 6 year old daughter. We have a Muslim acquaintance (friend of a friend) whose young daughter wears a hijab. Looking at my daughter, I feel horrified that anybody would tell a little girl that she has to cover up her lovely hair, all because it could drive a man wild.

I'm an atheist mom, too. I have a 26 month old son and one on the way. My DH is atheist too. I just found your blog and I love it! I've thought long and hard about the whole teaching your kid to be an atheist is the same as teaching them about religion, and DH and I have settled on what we are going to do. I was raised a believer and I broke free from that because I questioned things. So we have decided we will teach our DS and future children to question everything. Enough "whys" and "hows" let any logical person see religion is not true. I hope by the time my son is old enough to hear of this "god" people talk about, he will be inquisitive enough to see how it doesn't make sense. HTH And keep up the great posts! :-)
